Auto Exposure

With the Auto Exposure feature, x-rays passing through the patient are detected by a sensor. The computer uses this information to simultaneously control the voltage and the current with respect to the speed of film movement. This ensures a high quality image with a consistent level of density for every type of patient, from children to adults.
To create a panoramic image, the film must move three times faster when exposing the molar region as compared to the incisal region. This means that density must be regulated to produce an image with optimal contrast and consistent density. The Auto Exposure feature accomplishes this through computerized coordination of the tube voltage, tube current and speed of film movement.
